All About the Library |
The Chamberlin School Library Media
Center opens at 8:20 a.m. each school day
and services approximately 280 students and sixty staff members.
Students visit the library on an
average of one hundred students per day.
Our goals are:
To provide a supportive environment for reading and learning, in which each child is valued as an individual.
To collaborate with teachers and staff to provide units that support and enhance standards based curriculum.
To maintain strong collections of print and non-print learning materials.
To teach students the information literacy skills they need to locate, access, and use information efficiently and effectively.
To inspire students to love reading by providing activities and resources, and to enrich literature appreciation.
We also promote Vermont State Programs including author visits, Red Clover and Dorothy Canfield Fisher Award Programs, I love to Read and Write Month, and annual Scholastic Books Fairs.

Our library staff consists of one full-time Library Media Specialist, Cally
Flickinger (left)
and one part-time Library Media Assistant, Sandra Barney (right)
We also have a dedicated crew of student and parent
volunteers.
Fifth grade volunteers donate their time to learn about the library. Over twenty-five students are learning how to help with book circulation, create displays and bulletin boards, process and mend books, assist with younger classes, and share their love of books each week.

Dedicated, weekly parent volunteers, Jennifer Lurie, and Nan Daudelin donate
their time and energy to
making our library the very best it can be for
Chamberlin's students as well.
