Outcome/Learning Objectives

Students will research an object in the solar system and prepare a HyperStudio presentation for the class.

 

Procedures

1.  Choose a planet or other object in the solar system like the sun, a comet, the asteroid belt.  All objects should be chosen by at least one student.

2.  Research information about the object using textbooks, websites, or other sources of information.

3.  Prepare a HyperStudio stack of at least 6 cards using the following content guidelines.

   A.  Title Page with name of object (may include a picture).

   B.  Four cards with factual information about the object. 

   For example, if researching a planet the information would include the following:

         distance from sun

        size of the planet 

        length of day and year

        number of moons and rings

        make up of atmosphere

        surface temperature 

   Cards for other objects would include details about that object.  

   C.  One card with more in depth information about something of special interest about your object.

   D.  Cards should include pictures, at least one picture should be drawn by the student.

  E.  One card should include a bibliography of sources.

4.  HyperStudio card design should include the following:

   A.  Student choice of font (size, color, and easy to read).

   B.  Student choice of background color and effects.

   C.  Graphics related to the content.  At least one picture designed by student.

   D.  Use of whole card for design.

   E.  Buttons to move forward, backward and to home page.

   F.  Use of a variety of transitions (visual and auditory).

  G.  Recording of student voice (narration) and sound related to topic.
