Pisces is an ancient constellation according to the myth of the terrible Greek god Typhon. (not to be confused with with the Chinese word, meaning "Big Wind")

Two gods-Aphrodite and Eros- transformed themselves into fishes to swim up the Nile so they would get away from Typhon. They escaped from him as they planned. When they died, their spirit images were two fish tied together at their tails at the star alpha Piscium.

The sun passes through the southeast corner of Pisces, and the vernal equinox now lies in Pisces.

There are different names for Pisces. Here are some:

Babylonians: Nunu

Persians: Mahik

Turks: Balik

(All meaning "fishes")

One country doesn't even eat fish because they think Aphrodite and Eros are Holy Warriors, and since their spirit images were fish, eating fish was a sin.
