| Artic Hares |
| Arctic hares live above ground and eat
throughout the winter, usually in places where the wind
has swept away the snow to reveal frozen plants. In
winter they are white to blend in with the snow and hide
from their enemies like the arctic fox and the wolf. In
summer they loose their thick, white winter coat and
their fur becomes gray-brown to help them blend in with
the rocks and soil. Special fact: The arctic hare uses its feet and teeth as digging told to get at plants beneath the snow. |
